ARTICLE 4: EFFECTIVE MEASURES

 

Describe and name the five fields of civic activity and local legislation in Article 4 as effective measures to eliminate intolerance and discrimination based on religion or belief.

 

 

Paragraph 4:1: Fields of Civic Activity

All States shall take effective measures to prevent and eliminate discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief in the recognition, exercise and enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms in all fields of civil, economic, political, social and cultural life.

Summarize your community resources research, interviews. Describe the organizations and institutional contacts you made for each field of civic activity. In Section IV you will pick one effective measure or best practice for each field of civic activity.

Paragraph 4.2: Legislation and Regulations

All States shall make all efforts to enact or rescind legislation where necessary to prohibit any such discrimination, and to take all appropriate measures to combat intolerance on grounds of religion or belief in this matter.

Describe local laws and regulations in your community that support tolerance and the elimination of discrimination based on religion or belief. Describe local laws and regulations that need to be rescinded. Attach your Community Compilation of Laws and Regulations in the Appendix to this report.
